We've all heard the various formulas for weight loss. Watch
what you eat, count calories, drink enough water, avoid starchy foods, and so
on. Then there are the diet programs--Weight Watchers, Atkins, NutriSystem,
MediFast, and all the rest.
But what if you've tried them all and still can't lose those
extra pounds? Or worse, maybe you've gained weight every time you got fed up
and gave up on your attempt. You've lost ten pounds, but you just can't face
another day of feeling deprived of your favorite foods, and so you quit.
Everyone tells you, you just need willpower. Tough it out
for a little while longer. But if you need to lose 30 pounds or more, that's a
lot of willpower. Especially since so many things can sabotage you're efforts:
fatigue, emotions, hunger, depression. And if you're dieting, several of those
may apply.
Two individuals I follow believe a lot of weight loss issues
begin in the subconscious mind. For some reason, your subconscious mind wants
you to be heavy. Maybe it's a reaction to a situation in your past, which gave
it the idea that the extra weight would protect you, or make you happy.
One of the reasons for obesity today is the added stresses
of modern society. In the early days of human existence, our genetics helped us
survive cold temperatures and starvation by storing energy as fat, to be
released when we needed it. Actually, dieting can trigger this mechanism, as
cutting your caloric intake triggers your body's starvation mode. It actually
makes you store fat faster.
Most of us have heard of the 'fight or flight' syndrome. How
often do we need to either fight or flee today? Your body doesn't know the
difference between real danger and perceived danger, like the guy who cut you
off in traffic. Since everyday life is so very stressful, your body never gets
the break it needs, and it thinks it has to store energy so you can survive.
Nearly 80% of overweight people can't lose weight by dieting
alone. The ups and downs of their weight loss make it even more damaging to
their health. Their subconscious mind believes they need the weight to survive,
and so it makes sure they don't lose weight.
How do we turn these triggers off? How do we convince our
minds to let it go?
There are two programs I like and have used which have
helped me. One is the Gabriel Method. John Gabriel developed and used this
program to lose over 200 pounds, and keep it off. It isn't about dieting, but
about changing your triggers through guided meditation and self-hypnosis.
The other method is the Zero Resistance Weight Release
Solution, by Dr. Robert Anthony. His method helps you eliminate the emotional
resistance between the conscious and subconscious mind, again, through guided
meditation and self-hypnosis.
Both of these programs come with morning and evening
meditation tracks to use. They are simple but effective. I've used both of
them--not at the same time--and have lost nearly fifty pounds. I still have
weight to lose, but it's coming off. I've not experienced the yo-you effect
that I had with dieting.
There are other programs out there which also address these
issues. So if you have a significant amount of weight to lose, why not look
into either the Gabriel Method, Zero Resistance, or do a web search to find a
program that's right for you. For more information, see my website at:

You don't have to be overweight. There is a solution, but it
might not be dieting. Try it for yourself. What have you got to lose?
